NEWS: Support for Ukraine

Manchester's Support for Ukraine

NEWS: Manchester City Council Support Fund

Two weeks before Christmas, Manchester City Council sent cheques of £70 or £100 to households that receive Council Tax Support towards their council tax bill.  This payment is part of a government funded Household Support Fund scheme for households who are on a low income. The scheme covers working-age and older people. The money is to help with household bills. 

If you are aware of people who receive Council Tax Support and who may have either not opened their letter or cashed the cheque, please encourage them to act quickly to take action. People have until 14th January 2022 to cash their cheque.

We will be checking with our most vulnerable tenants and would also encourage people to check with elderly relatives to make sure that they access this money.

If you would like staff at People First to be in regular contact with you to discuss any concerns about your housing or the support that you require, please let us know, so that we can tell you about the services that will be available to help you.

Our day-to-day repairs service has continued to respond to emergency and urgent repairs. Gas servicing inspections have also been maintained. 

Please call us if you have any repair issues that you wish to discuss.

Out of Hours Emergency Repair Service

We are aware of an issue with our automated response phoneline so if you are experiencing a problem after 5pm or at weekends please contact our Out of Hours Emergency Repair Service directly on 01244 573 309


Just as a reminder - before our housing staff or contractors visit you at home we ask you to let us know if you are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms, or have been abroad, or you are self-isolating having been in contact with someone with the Covid-19.

Please open doors and windows for at least 10 minutes before we visit to make sure your home is well ventilated. Also can you ensure no one from another household is visiting you at the same time, or other household members are in the same room. 

During the visit we ask you to please keep doors and windows open during our visit, maintain at least 2 metres social distancing and wear a face mask which covers your nose and mouth if we are entering your home.

Before the visit we will use hand sanitiser before (and after) each visit. We will also check with you prior to the visit, that you are happy for it to go ahead.

We will also wear a face mask covering the nose and mouth during the visit and will also wear a face shield visor while maintaining 2 metres social distancing.

We operate an established and well-respected Community Support Service operating across Manchester, working with vulnerable people who have a range of needs.

The association also owns and manages in the region of 300 properties of various sizes in Hulme and its tenants are encouraged to get actively involved in making decisions about the future of People First and their homes by becoming Board members or helping with policy reviews.
